"Helluva" Reunion

The Original Four were reunited. Finally, after a long wait the original four Helluva Drivers managed to get together for an Island round. This time guests were out-of-towners and Island newbies Karl and Ryan, plus DG veteran Steve. Surprisingly the "seven-some" moved smoothly around the course after deftly snagging water taxis to and fro. When all was said and done Swanny edged Sparky by a stroke, Wade blew a gasket late in the round and WowWow got in the most throws for his money.
Let's hope for another reunion sooner rather than later in August. Will the "Helluva Drive" Cup trade hands this year? Stay tuned.
Here's the hole-by-hole recap for July 30th

"Musta Been" a "Helluva" BBQ

Well, yes it was a "Helluva" BBQ

Peterborough Road Trip "Musta Been" Challenge

Since Swanny's recent migration to the countryside it's been a little difficult getting the Helluva Drivers together but today we managed to gather Swan, Wow and Wade "Hawkman" Jackson to test the "mighty" Otonabee 9 hole circuit. The lads shot 36 holes and after an omenous opening hole 5, the recently on fire Mr. Jackson started to sparkle again. Shooting 6 birdies on the first 18 for a score of 52 (two under par) Wade set the stage for the day. Last year's Most Improved player could very well take that title again, as his play continues to progress, while the oldtimers Wow and Swan seem stuck in a time warp. Scores of 52 (Wade), 56 (Swan) and 63 (Wow) were tweaked to reflect Helluva Drive accepted numbers, so an intricate levelling formula was created where 14 strokes would be added to enable the stats to count in this years standings. On the second round Wade proved he had some simply human qualities and shot an earthly 57, nudging out Swanny's 58 and WowWow McWowerstein's 60. Bevies were kept in check as there was still a drive back for Marty and Wade, and a post round BBQ featured a heap of meat that seemed endless.
The Helluva Drivers head into the Summer season with a tight race atop the leader board. Here's the scores from the Peterborough Riverview Park rounds of June 12th.

Wade Jackson: No More Mr. Nice Guy

Aliens have kidnapped Wade Jackson and replaced him with a Disc Golf Superhero known as "Hawkman". Once an enjoyable golf companion, now a technically precise, emotionless machine. The "new" Wade put on a driving clinic featuring his recently purchased "Hawk" and time and time again threw it long and straight on a breezy Sunday outing and eventually scored a personal best of 70. "Hawkman", Sparky and Swanny played with Peterborough guests Dave Gillett and wife Roxanne in the first round. Dave took honours with an impressive newcomer score 0f 72, while the Helluva Drivers all scored 74. While Dave and Roxanne had to catch an early ferry, the boys carried on with scores of 70 for The Alien and 75 and 78 for Swanny and Sparky respectively. Water was a feature for many of the fellas, and Swanny scored a snowman on the long dogleg 8th but made amends later with a "monster" 100 foot par shot on the 12th , measured off by Super Wade. A good time was had by all. All that was missing was Wow Wow, 6 Stellas and a floating Hydra.

helluva wind!

Three of four Helluva Drivers got out to the Island today under windy, buggy conditions. Swanny was stuck in Peterborough but Sparky,Wade and WowWow got a couple rounds in nonetheless and tinkered with the standings. Reports speak of monster drives from Wow and only the second birdie of the year. Scores are posted below.

Helluva Drivers New Plastic

Spotted recently in the bags of the Helluva Drivers:
Wade has a new Discraft Hawk (watch out trees, see previous story) an approach/putter Soft "Chain Smashing(?)" Magnet and a Rattler...
Marty McWow has been spotted with new discs as well; Innova Mid Range Stingray, and a couple others that were forgotten by this blogger. Looks like there may be a foursome getting together at The Island this week where we'll give you the lowdown on their performances.

Wade's new "Tree Hawk"

As we know, the hawk is a soaring creature which spends much of it's time aloft, searching for it's target. As with all living beings it also needs to rest. The hawk enjoys to rest in a tree, as Wade learned time and time again. After flying into an evergreen on three different occasions, Wade's new Discraft Hawk finally found it's perch atop an apple tree. Fortunately, it was coaxed out and will fly again.
